Money Is No Big Deal
I graduated from college two years ago, and now am working as a high school teacher. I worked very hard on weekday, and when weekends come, I will gasp the chance to go shopping.
A few months ago, I went to my favorite shopping center to look at purses, but unfortunately, none of them interested me. Since it was still early, I went to the jewelries at will. There were so many splendid jewelries shining through the counters, and most of them were the world leading brands. Considering that I did not have enough money, I was about to go outside when a silver necklace caught my attention. The unique designing, the shining pendant and the luxurious style totally swept me off my feet. That was just a miniature work of art. My impulse was to get out of there, but first I stalled at the front desk with questions about the payment. It would take me half a year’s salary. The price made me take a short, quick breath. I smiled reluctantly and went outside, feeling so awkward and embarrassed.
I walked and my stomach in knots. “Just get in your car and drive away”, I coached myself. I went to my car, started it, and backed out. ‘‘But I really liked it, it was amazing! If I missed it, I would feel totally disappointed’’. Another voice shouted loudly in my head. I called my best friend Julie, who would always calm me down when I could not make up my mind. She was not at home. “No one’s going to make this easier for you”, I said to myself. “That Tiffany necklace is really magnificent, and I can earn money back if I work harder in the next few months. Julie will surely back me up”. I persuaded myself, “Money is no big deal”. I took several deep breaths. Then I went and got my necklace.
I can’t remember how many admirations and praises my friends and colleagues have given me since I bought that necklace, and I have ready gained the money back. We should not let the chances slip from us when we really want something, because money is indeed no big deal.
